7 KEY PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES

7 Key Professional Practices

There are quite a few challenges we face in our professional lives in different forms and sources. This article provides effective inputs that give a new perspective to approach challenges. It can even avoid unlikely situations and aid in scaling up in personal life and professional ladder.

The most attractive element for the employer is the employee’s self-trust and conviction. When there is a lack of self-trust then a second or third person cannot entrust a task. By denying self-trust, not only does the task go incomplete, it also stops one from knowing, experimenting, and achieving more. To complete the assigned task, we must primarily trust ourselves with zero doubt. It is always best to start with trust and cherish the fruit later.

The end result of postponing work is always chaos. So, from where does this problem originate from? It is due to the lack of prioritizing work. Here is when the ‘do it now’ rule comes into play. The daily flow of work makes a person too busy to complete several tasks than the tasks of high importance. It is a common mistake among freshers that they are unaware of the weightage of the assigned task. The priorities list assists in doing the work now. Then, the habit of postponing will be replaced with planning.

To keep ourselves up in the changing work environment we have to evolve over time. Few companies offer opportunities to learn new technology, upgrade new skills, and acquire knowledge. While others look out for opportunities, find ways to upskill themselves, and adapt. It is the need of the hour to seek, acquire, and groom oneself. The concept of upskilling isn’t confined to only technical but also soft skills that make a candidate more competent and less available or rare in the market.

Most often people are left with no answer or very little clarity. This is because they don’t ‘Ask’ for it. The unanswered questions disturb an employee’s mental health and affect individual productivity. It continues with misunderstanding and employees wouldn’t say well about the company which may in turn spoil the reputation of the company. It also leads to a huge communication gap between the employee and the employer. The answer to unclear deductions, clarity for pay structure, and grievances have to be asked. We can only receive it if we ask for it.

The habit that has to be avoided is to compare oneself with others and the best thing to do is ‘Focus’ on self-goals. Every human comes from different walks of life and different backgrounds. We can observe and learn from others but the focus should only be on one’s own destiny. There are diversions all around prompting one to choose an irrelevant job, constantly induce discouragements, and look down upon an individual. It doesn’t matter how loud the negative noises are, the focus should lie only on listening to one’s own inner voice.

The key to utilizing opportunities is the ‘dare’ to grab them. S/he chooses to challenge and prove themself when they dare to do it despite self-doubt, frailties, and insecurities. It is always better to beat the iron when it is hot than lament about it later. When there is a dare to take up opportunities it opens the door to self-realization, self-evaluation and self-confidence. It has the power to attract new opportunities, find new prospects and lays the foundation for continuous self-development.

Every professional has a self-goal that was carefully chosen and over the years it gets nourished. A person with a self-goal will ‘strive’ with determination to consistently improve and ultimately reach it. The climax of achieving it lies in the amount of energy we put into striving to succeed. Short-term goals are important to attain long-term goals. These short-term goals increase self-trust, give the dare to do and ask, improve one’s skills and knowledge, develop the practice of prioritizing and focus, and become a better person every day.

These professional practices help a person to develop both professionally and personally. It organizes activities and streamlines to achieve one’s goal.  These are key solutions to the challenges faced by any professional. Adapting these practices at an early stage can help individuals in achieving their goals.
